Students at Howard High School enjoy a world class educational experience with opportunities to excel academically, athletically, and artistically. Music education plays a critical role in developing well rounded students with a life long love of the arts. Band, choir, orchestra, guitar, and music technology programs instill the values of dedication, perseverance, teamwork, and accountability. The comradery and esprit de corps of these groups bolster students mental health.
As beneficial as these programs are, they are costly to run.
Expenses include:

Sheet music
Uniforms
Transportation
Additional Staff and Clinicians
Each year, there is a gap of tens of thousands of dollars between what the district provides and the true operating costs of a high quality music program. Our mission is to close that gap.
Howard High School Music Boosters is a volunteer-run organization that supports the band, chorus, orchestra, guitar, and music technology programs at Howard High School through fundraising, volunteerism, and logistics.

Welcome and Farewell
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Joel Frisch, incoming Director of Bands for Howard High School. Dr. Frisch holds degrees in music performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and from Michigan State University. He is certified in music education from Towson University. Most recently, Dr. Frisch has served as the head band director and music department chair at C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air, MD. Regrettably, that means we must bid a fond farewell to Mr. Bryan Welker. We wish him best of luck in his new position as Supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts for Calvert County Schools. Mr. Welker has been for more than a band leader. He has been a mentor, a role model, a cheerleader, and a surrogate parent for hundreds of student a year. It is impossible to overstate his impact on this community. He will be missed. Car Wash #2 is in the Books!
A big thank you to all who came out to wash cars and have your cars washed on July 20th. The Marching Band earned $1196.12 for the upcoming season. Car Wash #1 was a great success!
The first fundraising car wash held on June 15th. Members of the marching band made dozens of cars shine and raised $2,268 in the process! Marching Band Camp 2024
